Noise Studies
Screening and Preliminary Analysis
Our first service makes a preliminary assessment of the potentially affected buildings with the construction of a new line. Using geographical information software combined with analytical methodologies it is predicted the level of impact expected for the buildings in the vicinity of the projected route. It can also predict the noise impact for a building that will be constructed near an existing line. A report is given with all the important information.

Advanced Analysis
The affected buildings demand detailed studies to predict, with high accuracy, the sound pressure level which will hit the building's façade. For such cases, we offer an advanced analysis performed with a Boundary Element numerical model, developed by NOVIB Engineers, which realistically simulates the sound pressure propagation. Finally, the service certifies whether the predicted sound pressure levels comply with the threshold recommended by human comfort standards.

Mitigation Measure Design
For the cases which are predicted a sound pressure level higher than the limit threshold, a mitigation measure will be required. Such designs are very complex tasks demanding highly specialized numerical analysis. Given that, using a combination between the Boundary Element Model and the Equivalent Fluid Model, NOVIB is able to design mitigation measures with, or without, porous material in order to optimize the sound pressure reduction and increase comfort inside the nearby building.
